COL. OFFICE HONGKONG.
My Lord,
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
10th January, 1930.
I have the honour to request Your Lordship's
authority for an expenditure from the public funds of the sum of $182,750 for the purchase of Kowloon Inland Lot No.1652, now occupied at a monthly rent of $1,750 as a
Police Training School.
2.
The lot is at present held by the Missions
Etrangères for the residue of a term of forty years from
28th June, 1925, at a Crown Rent of $508 per annum. The
unexpired residue of the lease together with the buildings
has been valued by the Director of Public Works at a sum
of $301,228 and the owners are willing to accept, on a 75 years lease, two neighbouring lots of Crown land, which are valued at $85,312.50 and $33,210 respectively, together with the cash compensation of $182,750 mentioned above.
The building which stands on Kowloon Inland
Lot No.1652, while not so entirely suitable for the purpose as would be one specially constructed, has provided adequate accommodation for the School since March 1928,
